Grooms Cakes

The wedding day is about 2 people in love. Since most of the wedding is decided by the bride, it is only fair that the groom at least has a cake of his own.

Introducing, the grooms cake!
This one was for a lovely bride and hunter fiancé.

Cake isn't gender discriminating. Cake is for everyone.

Ruffle Cake

Prom-themed birthday party? We made the cake to match her ombre teal dress!

This was the first of ma. ruffle cakes.

Next, we added some personality to these Costco Red Velvet cakes, the bride's absolute favorite.

Nothing says girly party like a pink ruffle cake!

Her reaction was the cutest thing I've ever seen:

Finally, the biggest ruffle cake of all:

This three tier ruffle wedding cake was such a project, but the end result was so worth it. I love any opportunity to use the tree stump base and it went perfectly with her rustic theme.

6 in ruffle: $35
Three tier birthday cake: $85
Three tier wedding cake: $210

First Wedding Cakes

Okay, I'm just going to post a few pictures of my first two wedding cakes.

This first one was for a neighbor. She had just moved in and since she didn't know anyone in the area and had virtually no funds to have a wedding celebration, the neighborhood came together to help her out. I knew my sister had talked about having me do her wedding cake so I volunteered to make this cake for practice.

It was nice not to have a lot of pressure and high expectations for my first one, a fondant, 2 tiered, square cake. ($80-85)

The next cake was for my sister Sarah's wedding, and she did have VERY high expectations. The cake had to fit in perfectly with the rest of Sarah's decorations, which were beautiful (check out her blog at theblushingbloom.blogspot.com, her wedding is in the first post)

Sarah found a cake on Pinterest similar to what she wanted:

Based on the picture, this is what we came up with:

She loved it. For a three tier fondant cake like this, it would usually cost $250-$300. Needless to say, I this was her wedding present from me, but it was a lot of fun to make.

The Origin of Taste

My family has a passion for creativity. It was during a late night chat with my mom and sister last February that Taste was born. Our plan is to one day open a boutique/crafting studio/cafe, but until then, we have a blog.

Allow me to introduce you to the inventors:
Sarah's wedding, last may.

Meet my mom, Pam, the author of our creative genius. She is an interior designer, scrapbooker, West Elm visual designer, excellent cook, wedding planner/decorator, and a fantastic mom. She does everything.

Next, meet my sister, Sarah. She is currently in nursing school, but she is also very passionate about trendy design. She loves making every event she is a part something people will talk about for months. Give her a map and some doilies and she will present you with a masterpiece.

I am the little sister and youngest daughter, Morgan. I love helping out with Pam and Sarah's projects and events and even supply them with ideas from time to time, but when it comes down to  it, I like food. Cooking has been my passion since I was six. You will also soon learn, I love cakes.

"Taste" is the perfect term to encompass all of our passions, whether it is in good taste, or tasty.

Stay tuned for the rough beginnings of my cake-making career.
